BUDAPEST ROOFTOP CINEMA

Budapest Rooftop Cinema (BRC) came to existence by our pure devotion towards cinematic culture. One of Budapest’s most exciting initiative was summoned by the fusion of classic open air cinemas, stylish rooftop bars and evergreen movie classics.

The BRC team considers it a personal mission to provide fascinating movie experience in special locations to all cinema enthusiasts. We would desperately love to save the heritage of decaying open air cinemas, that’s why we organise our events to spots under the shining stars, elevating the theatre above the city. We had had projections for several years at the legendary Corvintető (later Corvin Club), Europe’s largest rooftop cinema by footprint, before were obliged to leave last year. After a short pause we finally arrived at the rooftop terrace of Mammut 2 (2-6. Lövőház street,
Budapest, 1024) which had not been used for the last 10 years. There we set up our new nest for the cinema lovers, which we call Mammuttető.

Our projection series covers a wide variety from old classics, which are not on the programme of any other cinema, as well as recent masterpieces. Furthermore we proudly present our audience the option to spectate films before their official premier. Thanks to this diverse concept all the following films could get to our schedule: The Basketball Diaries, Mad Max: Fury Road, American beauty, Forrest Gump, Brasil, Matrix, Mapplethorpe: Look at the picture. Of course we would never miss the latest Hungarian releases alongside with the unforgettable classics.
